Todo lists are essential. Nothing beats a pen and paper when it comes to speed and ease of use. But there are certain things a pen and paper cannot do.
As you can see, creating a Todo in /tap is the same as creating any other note. Simply add the word "todo" to the beginning of the note or following a Folder.
Todos appear alongside your other notes or can be viewed separately, both inside and outside of your organizational systems. The Todos view provides an overview to help you quickly understand how much you have going on.
There are two ways to check off the completion of a Todo.
Use the /tap dashboard to click the checkbox to the left of your Todo. The note will change from a Todo to a Done.
You can also create a Done note directly via text.
You do not need to create a Todo before you create a Done note! This is useful if you are creating a log of things already completed.
Todos become particularly useful when used in combination with Spells. These four spells, used in combination, deliver incredible power.
Repeating Notes, particularly things that happen on a weekly or monthly cycle, can be tricky to remember. A Repeating Note Spell can create a Todo note on whatever schedule you choose. For example, make sure taking out the trash is on your Todo list every Tuesday morning.
Follow that up with a Text Reminder so your phone gets a notification it's time to take out the trash.
Todo Emails give you a breakdown of everything that needs to be done. Maybe there was something else you needed to do and when you got the text reminding you to take out the trash, you check your email and discover you forgot to water the plants yesterday. Now your plants are happy again.
A Done Email gives you a chance to celebrate your accomplishments. Send the review at the end of your day or week, and it will give you peace of mind that you're making progress.
If you find that your Todos are getting unorganized, remember you can use folders and tags to separate them. And, of course, you can have multiple Spells send you different sets of Todo and Done emails at different times, based on different tags and folders.
